The 1997 Bankoh Moloka`i Hoe Official Race WebSite
The scene - Arriving by boat at Hale O Lono
A few quick pointers on what's going on here...
The Bankoh Moloka`i Hoe outrigger canoe race is considered to be the Men's World Championship Of Outrigger Canoe Racing and the participants are some of the world's best paddling athletes. On a good day, the course - 41 miles across the Ka`iwi Channel from the island of Moloka`i to O`ahu - is one of the roughest waterways in the Pacific... This is the 46th running of the race and the course has changed 7 times over the years, finishing at various times at Magic Island, Sans Souci Beach and the Moana Hotel.
The plan, here online - is to upload progress reports and digipix After the race, the crowd of paddlers, friends & family are invited to an Awards Ceremony and Pau Channel Party at the Ocean Club at Restaurant Row
One last thing...
