In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, held on the North Shore of O`ahu from November 12, 2002, to December 20, 2002, the world¹s premier surfing series will this year be offering a comprehensive calendar of extra events for the public.

Topping the list will be the Vans Triple Crown Surf Fest to be staged at Kualoa Ranch on the east side of O`ahu on Sunday, November 10, 2002. This music and lifestyle extravaganza will capture the essence of surf culture with the following:

* a bill of major mainland musical talent,

* a surf village with many of the top surfing pros on hand for autographs and pictures ­ including the Roxy Pro female riders,

* skateboarding demonstrations on a 20 foot half pipe by Vans skaters Neal Hendrix, Omar Hassan, Steve Caballero and Mike Crum.

The Vans Triple Crown Surf Fest will offer a Rock and Reggae afternoon mega-concert featuring The Marley's, Pennywise, Face to Face, Long Beach Short Bus, Slightly Stoopid, Ookl`ah the Moc, Go Jimmy Go, Generic, and Pepper.

The Vans Hawaiian Pro & Roxy Pro surf events at Hale`iwa Ali`i Beach Park. The first stage of the 20th anniversary Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, these events will be held on the best four days of surf during the holding period.

Saturday, November 16, 2002
Hawaii Independent Cruise and Woody Club Car Display. At Hale`iwa Ali`i Beach Park from 11:00am ­ 3:00pm. A display of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Hawaii's best hot rods and Woodies, courtesy of Hawaii Independent Cruise Nights. To be held in conjunction with the Vans Hawaiian Pro/Roxy Pro, whether the surf contest is on or not.

The Roxy Pro Wrap-Up Party & Awards Ceremony at the Hawaiian Hut - featuring live music with the Roxy Girls and contestants in attendance.

"Big Surf, Big Meets, Big Waves" Display at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach, hotel lobby. Pro surfers signing autographs, movie and video show, book signing of "Eddie Would Go" along with "Surf Meets Past & Present" memorabilia display.
To be held in conjunction with the Outrigger Hotels and the Hawaii International Surfing Museum.

Sunday, November 24, 2002 to Saturday December 7, 2002
Second stage of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing: the men's Rip Curl Cup at Sunset Beach and the Turtle Bay Resort Women's Pro on the shores of the Turtle Bay Resort. Events will take place on the best days of surf during the holding period.

North Shore Lifeguard Party at Waimea Falls Park, Pikake Pavilion. 7:00pm to midnight. Live music featuring The Mermen, plus special surf video premier. A fund-raiser for the North Shore Lifeguard Association.

Saturday, November 30, 2002
Free CPR classes conducted by the North Shore Lifeguard Association at Sunset Beach Elementary School. Noon to 4:00pm.

Sunday, December 1, 2002
North Shore Lifeguard Safety Clinic at Sunset Beach. Noon to 2:00pm. Lectures, demonstrations and rescue displays.

Opening Ceremony of the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau at Waimea Bay.

Thursday, December 5, 2002
Start of the holding period for the annual Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau at Waimea Bay. Holding period runs through February 28, 2003, with competition to be held when waves peak at over 20 feet.

Friday, December 6, 2002
SURF NIGHT at Sunset Beach Elementary School. 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Featuring video showing, free prize drawings and autograph signings by top pro surfers.

Saturday, December 7, 2002
The Xbox Gerry Lopez Pipeline Masters Kick-off Party at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park. Gates open at 6:00pm. Wave pool exhibition by top pro surfers including Kelly Slater, Bruce & Andy Irons, C.J. Hobgood, Kalani Robb & Taj Burrow. Autograph session, big screen display of Kelly Slater's Activision surf game, live music and 9:00pm concert featuring Naughty By Nature.

Sunday, December 8, 2002, to Friday, December 20, 2002
The third and final stage of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing: the Xbox Gerry Lopez Pipeline Masters at Pipeline and the women¹s Billabong Pro Maui. Competition will be held on the best days of surf during the holding period.

Saturday, December 14, 2002
Punk-On-The-Rock Concert at Pipeline Café. 4:00pm onwards. Featuring the music of Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag, Drowning Adam and 86 List.

Friday, December 20, 2002
The Official Wrap-up Party for the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing at Hard Rock Café in Waikiki from 9:30pm to 2:00am.
