Roxy will kick-off the festivities this Sunday, November 10, with a special celebrity booth featuring Roxy teamriders and Roxy Pro competitors at the Vans Surf Fest Music & Lifestyle Event at Kualoa Ranch - 8am to 5pm. The first day of surfing competition for the $30,000 Roxy Pro is Tuesday, November 12, at Haleiwa's Ali'i Beach Park.

The Women's Vans Triple Crown of Surfing events are:

* The Roxy Pro - Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park, November 12-22

* The Turtle Bay Resort Women's Pro - Turtle Bay, November 24 - December 7

* The Billabong Pro Maui - Honolua Bay, Maui, December 8-20.

THE NORTH SHORE'S ONLY RESORT HOSTS THE TURTLE BAY RESORT WOMEN'S PRO

A new event joins the women's Triple Crown lineup this year: the $20,000 Turtle Bay Resort Women's Pro. Celebrating the recent upgrade of the world class resort, the world's top women surfers will enjoy the luxury of surfing at the various beaches of the resort. The favored surf break for the competition is that known by locals as "The Pool Bar" - a right-hander that lies a stone throw away from the oceanside pool bar.

As the final World Qualifying Series event on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour, the Turtle Bay Resort Women's Pro is a critical event for those women looking to solidify their place on the elite World Championship Tour for 2003.

BILLABONG MAUI PRO TAKES TRIPLE CROWN OUTER-ISLAND

The third and final event of the women's Vans Triple Crown series is the only competition staged outside of Oahu: the Billabong Pro Maui. As the final destination on the 2002 Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour, the Billabong Maui Pro will crown the women's world champion. Presently, Australia's four-time world champion Layne Beachley leads the ratings.

Held during the same dates as the Xbox Gerry Lopez Pipeline Masters (December 8-20), Billabong hopes their event runs to completion early on in the holding period, after which time they plan to return to Oahu to stage The $2,500 Billabong Women's Expression Session at Pipeline.

The five women who have been invited to give an exhibition are those whose world class surfing talents were featured in the highly successful "Blue Crush" movie released this year. Hawaiians Keala Kennelly, Megan Abubo and Rochelle Ballard, as well as four-time world champion Layne Beachley and fellow Australian Kate Skarratt make up the invitee list.

This special event will be a 30-45 minute heat that will be showcased between the semi's and finals of the men's Xbox Gerry Lopez Pipeline Masters - the final day of action for the 2002 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Billabong has offered a $500 appearance fee to each participant and the invitees have unanimously decided that all monies will be donated to "Boarding for Breast Cancer" - a non-profit organization.
